Big C - you are my eldest, now a teenager. This has been a really hard year for you - your struggle with migraines, then pneumonia, a torn ligament in your shoulder, appendicitis, and now a broken hand... I know it has been really frustrating for you, and I know you are SO tired of it all... but I also have seen you handle it all with strength and dignity, and I am proud of you. We have spent many many hours, just the two of us, driving up and back from Boise to see doctors, waiting in waiting rooms, having tests done, getting insurance referrals, etc. And while it may not have been the way I would have chosen, I am grateful for the time it gave you and I alone. Being the oldest, you have to share a lot of your time with your siblings. But it never seems to faze you. Yet our times together have allowed me to see just how much you are growing up so quickly (as evidenced by the always empty pantry and refrigerator!) but not just your size, but your critical thinking, the way you love to figure out how things work, and your love for the Lord and awareness of how He works in our lives... it is amazing to watch. I also see you struggle with the teen hormones - the anger, the frustration, the acne... it's all part of it, dear son... and your dad and I will keep praying for you, guiding you along your path. We can't wait to see what the Lord has planned for your life - you are a strong young man who is growing by leaps and bounds. I know it is hard with Dad gone right now - you need that strong male presence in your life, and somehow Mom just doesn't cut it sometimes! But through the blessing of computer technology, you can still have that bond with dad, and we are planning some "Boy Getaways" for you with your uncle and cousin this summer... just to keep you connected the way you need right now! We love you!
Middle C - my only girl, stuck in the middle of two boys... when we found out we were having Little C, people said, "Oh how lucky that she is the only girl, then she won't get lost in the mix, she will have her own identity even though she is the middle child." Well, if they knew you, they needn't have worried! You were born with a personality so strong, you actually stared down the doctors in the delivery room! And that is just how you are... no one is going to convince you to act a certain way or believe a certain way until you yourself decide this is how it is going to be. Molding you and shaping you definitely takes a lot more patience and work, but oh... the rewards! Your self confidence, your ability to see something you want to do and figure out how to do it... truly amaze me, sweet girl! I love, too, the "girly" stuff that you love - getting your nails done, dressing up, going shopping, your love for shoes... I love sharing that with you! You definitely have your daddy wrapped around your little finger too, and it is such a joy to see the bond that you share! We love you, sweet girl...
Little C - You are our carefree boy, active all the time, and you find joy in each and every little thing. You love life and want everyone around you to share in the same excitement that you have in your passions - whether it be Star Wars, sharks, pirates, the Titanic, or the fact that you just learned how to whistle and snap! You are playing baseball for the first time this year, and while you are very good at hitting the ball, you could care less for the outfield where you have to wait for the action to come to you... you would much rather be in the middle of the action all the time! Hmm- maybe football is up your alley! You miss your Daddy so much right now - and you look so much alike that you are a constant reminder of him! Your Daddy loves talking with you on the computer, though, hearing you tell about your day, sharing the new excitements that you find in everyday life... what a joy you are to us, dear little C. We love you!
