Oh what a week! Hip surgery, saintly mother-in-law here to help, kids starting soccer, hubby doing military exercise that requires bizarre working hours, kiddo hurt playing football... never a dull moment! Let's away to the Hodgepodge!!
1. ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL? The NFL is back in action along with all the college teams. Are you a fan? Who do you root for? If you're not a fan what do you do while the rest of America watches Saturday, Sunday, Monday night, and now Thursday night games?
Yeah, much to my hub's dismay, I'm not really a football fan. I'll watch it, and I do enjoy watching certain teams (UCLA - wow, finally had an awesome game this last weekend!) and Pro, I like the 49ers and the Seahawks - but I don't really understand the game. In fact the other day as we were watching one of the games I told my hubs that I needed him to make me a Football Cheat Sheet so I can refer to it during the games! "First Down - oh now I know what that is! Etc etc etc"
2. What's something I'll always find in your closet?
Clothes, tons of shoes, our luggage, my wedding dress (preserved in a box), my hubby's military uniforms and all of the stuff that comes with it.
3. Share one of your earliest memories.
I remember Christmas morning when my brother was only 2 months old. (I was 2 1/2) - I remember vividly being SO excited that Santa had come and had left my brother a stocking as well, that I ran into my parents' bedroom where he was sleeping in the basinette and shouted "ANDY! It's Christmas!" and I didn't understand why my parents were so upset at me... guess he had been awake all night or something...
4. What circus act best describes your week so far?
You know that part in the circus when you are sitting in your seat, and there are things going on in all of the circus rings around you and you are just trying to take it all in? Yep, that's exactly my week! I had my hip surgery last Thursday (it went well, by the way - thanks for the prayers!) but I've been pretty much on my couch since then, just letting myself rest and heal. Not sleeping so well at night, which is getting REALLY old... But in the meantime, we've got the kids' school/sports/music schedules, my hubby's military exercise, and then yesterday my Big C twisted his ankle in football and so now he is on crutches too! Seriously, you just can't make all of this stuff up!
5. What's a food you disliked as a child but you love now?
Avocados - could not STAND them as a kid. But now - bring them on!
6. Describe your summer in three words.
Hot. Hot. Hot.
(sorry, I'm not feeling very original right now!)
7. Where were you on September 11, 2001? Will you do anything special to mark the day this year?
We were in Pensacola, FL where my hubs was going through military training. I was pregnant with Middle C, and was getting Big C ready for school when I turned on the Today Show and saw the second plane hit the towers. I remember the gamut of emotions, Middle C kicking me SO hard for days as I went through the emotions, and suddenly realizing that my hubs' job in the military just became very. very. real.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Have you heard of this group of guys, 5 friends from St George, Utah called The Piano Guys? They are so incredible, and I love the enthusiasm and creativity they bring to music - my kids and I sat for an hour just watching their YouTube videos! Here's one of our favorites - it'll make you smile! (And it's just an awesome song too - great lyrics by One Direction if you aren't familiar with the song) have a great day!
OH - and if you have a Star Wars fan in your household, check out this one:
