A celebratory Hodgepodge!

A HUGE happy birthday to Joyce, our lovely Hodgepodge host, who provides us with the Hodgepodge each week! Thanks for stopping by, friends - let me know you were here and I'll return the favor on your blog in the next few days!  Until then, lets Hodgepodge!!

1. I'm (Joyce, that is) celebrating a birthday this week so a question relating to aging feels appropriate. Douglas MacArthur is quoted as saying, 'You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear; as young as your hope, as old as your despair." Would you agree? If not why not?

Ok, so I've read that quote through 3 times... and all I can say is...  "Huh?"    But after reading it another couple of times, I do think that your strong faith, your self-confidence, and your hope will make you have a more positive outlook on life, thus more youthful as opposed to being grumpy, negative, and fearful.

2. What remarkable feat, interesting piece of trivia, or historical event occurred on your birth day and month? Not necessarily in your birthyear, just the same date/same month.
1984 - The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that cities had the right to display the Nativity scene as part of their Christmas display.

Amen and Hallelujah!  And, seriously, WHY was this ever debated?  Good grief...

3. Describe a time or circumstance where you wanted to 'have your cake and eat it too.'

I honestly can't think of anything... maybe something will come to me as I sleep tonight!

4. What's something you do that makes you feel young? Something that makes you feel old?

Blowing bubbles always makes me feel young!  As does tickle fighting with my children, walking on the beach, holding hands with my hubby and kids.

Something makes me feel old?  Plucking those stupid hairs off my chin.  Seriously.  What is UP with that?  Bah!

5. When did you last do something that was 'a piece of cake'?

This morning at work I got a call from someone needing help with one of our church community programs, and I was able to fix the problem quickly - a very good feeling indeed!

6.  Beef, wine, and cheese all improve with age. What's something else you'd add to that list? (not necessarily food or beverage)

Friendships!  Marriages!

7. If I were to have a giveaway when we hit Volume 200, what should I give away? By my calculations we'll hit Volume 200 on November 26th, the day before Thanksgiving, which means whoever wins would have whatever it is in time for Christmas.

Oh what a fun idea!  Perhaps a beautiful calendar, devotional, Bible study, or stationery!

8.  Insert your own random thought here

Have you seen this article?  This is incredible... when God gives talent and passion, He doesn't discriminate at. all.  And what this man does, despite his "limitations" is nothing more than inspiring.
