Welcome to this week's Hodgepodge! Thanks as always to Joyce for putting this fun list together each week! I really do enjoy it - thanks for stopping by!
1. This week's Hodgepodge is Volume 123. What's something you've done recently that was as easy as 1-2-3?
Laundry... errands... paying the bills... it's all clockwork!
2. The Wednesday Hodgepodge also happens to fall on the first day of May ...what is something you may do this month?
Love life! We are taking the kids to a comedy concert this weekend, next weekend is Mothers Day (I'll get to be with my mom and grandmother for the first time in 19 years on Mothers Day!), and the weekend after that my hubby and I are getting a weekend away with my two bro-in-laws and sis-in-laws! I love having fun stuff to look forward to!
3. The Englishman Horace Walpole is credited as saying, "The world is a tragedy to those who feel, but a comedy to those who think" How do you see it?
Oh, I don't agree at all... I think those who "feel" may take things more intensely, hence the tragedy angle, I suppose... but oh, the love and joy they get to experience as well! And those who are more "thinkers" I feel aren't so much comedic but analytical... I think it's a mixture of both tragedy and comedy...
4. May is National Hamburger Month...how often do you eat a burger? What are your must-haves when it comes to burgers? I assume you vegetarians won't be celebrating so tell us what you'd like instead?
I eat a burger once or twice a month. I love a thick patty, full of flavor - with american cheese, mayo, ketchup, fresh tomato, and lettuce. And a good quality bun. YUM!! Oh, and it has to be grilled... fried is just gross.
5. Pansies, petunias, geraniums, impatiens...of the four mentioned, which is your favorite in a patio pot? Will there be pots on your patio this spring? (Or whenever spring comes to your part of the globe?) Who does the gardening at your house?
I have my pots all planted (love southern California for their long growing season!) - I have geraniums and impatiens! I love the sweet lemony smell of geranium leaves - it reminds me of my granny's garden! And Mrs Meyers has a geranium scented cleaner that is BLISS!
6. When did you last (literally or figuratively) shout "Mayday, Mayday!"
The last time I was playing pilot with the boys...
7. Say farewell to your April in ten words or less.
Month subdued by sinus infection, finally on antibiotics. See ya!
8. Insert your own random thought(s) here.
First off - have you seen this video? So cool and creative!
Secondly - here's a dilemma - let me pose it to you, and please let me know what the socially acceptable response should be...
We were invited to a birthday dinner for an old friend of mine, who now works in the same office as my husband. On the invitation it said "no gifts" - but at my birthday party last month, he and his wife gave me a beautiful gift from Williams & Sonoma. I feel strange going to his birthday dinner without a gift of any kind - but I don't want to disregard the invitation request... what to do? Suggestions??
