On my Honor...

Oh geez - I really need to set an alarm on my phone that will remind me every Tuesday night to do my weekly Hodgepodge post!    Because so many of the lovely people who do this live on the east coast - and well, for those of us on the west coast, by the time I arise on Wednesday morning the trail of links to the Hodgepodge is 50+ long!  Sigh... shouldn't really matter, I know, but I do like being a little more ahead of the game!  Like my friend Desi - I know for a fact that she lives in Vegas, and yet there she is, #1 on the Hodgepodge link!  How does she DO that?

But I"m on vacation this week... that's my excuse... this time... :-)

On to the Hodgepodge!

1. What's the last job you did that required elbow grease?

I think getting a family of five out the door for a week's vacation requires plenty of elbow grease.  If you are talking major cleaning, though, I would have to say cleaning out underneath my kitchen sink after the garbage disposal cracked in two places last month.  Blech.

2. March Madness, aka the men's Division I basketball championship, is nearing an end. What sort of 'madness' has your house seen this month?

Hubby gone for a 3 week military training, I got food poisoning, it was my birthday, and now the kids are on spring break and we are traveling through Seattle.  Definite madness!

3. What's your favorite shop for browsing?
Any type of boutique-y shop - you know, those specialty stores that carry soaps and candles and vintage clothing and funny signs and such.

4. Is there ever a time when giving up makes sense?
Yes.  But only sometimes.  If it's a good marriage, a child, etc, then I don't think so - those things should only be sacrificed as the most extreme measure.  But, sometimes the lesson God is trying to teach us is to wait on Him and not be so determined to have things "our  way" and in "our time" as in, RIGHT NOW.  You must stop and wait on the Lord, be still and know that He is good, and that in His time and His time alone will His plan come to completion.

Perhaps I should give up on my goal to be one of the first posters on the Hodgepodge!

5. What's a song you love that contains the name of a city, state or country in its title?
Hotel California!

6. When did you first begin using a computer?
I remember our school had a computer lab - and this was back in the late 70s, which was REALLY saying something for back then - but my friend's dad (who was incredibly wealthy) gave the school a bunch of Apple IIE computers...So I was maybe 9 or so?  My family did not have our own computer for a really long time - but my dad had a "portable" one that he would take to work and then bring home - it was nothing like our laptops of today but weighed about 40 pounds.

I like my MacBook much better! :-)

7. Did you buy girl scout cookies this year? What's your favorite?
Oh yes - although I am always saddened by how few cookies there are in a box, for how much they cost!  Oh well... my favorite of all time is the Thin Mints.  I do love Samoas too, although my last box seemed a bit stale - but I just found THIS recipe for making something similar at home... I may have to try this sometime!

8. Insert your own random thought here.

This is us yesterday!  At the top of the Space Needle in Seattle - what a fun trip this has been so far!  Great family time - although seriously, how HARD would it be for there to actually be a hotel that comfortably slept more than 4 people?  Sheesh!!  But the weather has been good, we have seen some great friends, and my family even indulged me by going to the first Starbucks - how fun!  Have a great rest of your week, friends!
