Hooray for summer! lazy mornings, lazy evenings, the sun doesn't set here until 9:30 pm, and when I get up for aerobics in the 0-dark-hundred hour of the morning, I can see the sun peeking its head over the horizon already! Love the long lazy days of summer! One thing that living in Idaho has done is made me truly appreciate the summer! There's nothing like a LONG winter to make you love the sun on your skin! Ahhhhh.....
I would not do well in the true north, me thinks.
1. Summer officially rolls in with the Hodgepodge this week, for those of us in the Northern hemisphere anyway. What song says summer 2012 to you?
And for my friends with kids, here's another one that's just fun...

1. Summer officially rolls in with the Hodgepodge this week, for those of us in the Northern hemisphere anyway. What song says summer 2012 to you?
Oh gosh, so many: Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffet, Sweet Home Alabama by Lynrd Skynrd, California Girls by the Beach Boys...
But I've got to go with my Blog Post title...
And for my friends with kids, here's another one that's just fun...
2. What's your favorite quintessential summer food?
Anything grilled, served with fresh fruit salad - oh how I love the summer produce!
3. I've spent a lot of time traipsing up and down the NJ Turnpike in recent weeks. Did you know the rest areas on the turnpike are named after people who lived or worked in NJ? Clara Barton, Walt Whitman, James Fenimore Cooper, Molly Pitcher, Joyce Kilmer, Thomas Edison, and Gover Clevland just to name a few. Of those I listed, who would you most like to have known and why?
Thomas Edison - what a genius! His contributions impacted our entire world...
4. At what age did you move out of your parent's house and what prompted the move?
I was 20, and I moved out because I was transferring from Pasadena City College to Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. I was also engaged and it was time to be on my own!
5. What's more satisfying to you-saving time or saving money?
Saving money - I love getting the best deal!
6. Name something you think brings out the good in people.
When you see a need and respond to it, even if it has nothing to do with you. 6 homes in our community burned a couple of nights ago, leaving 6 families without anything. The way our church and community is already putting the gears in motion to help them is inspiring.
7. This last question comes to you courtesy of Kathy over at Reflections...will you be taking a vacation or a staycation this summer? If so where will you go? If a staycation is on the calendar have you made any special plans to fill the time?
We don't really have set plans for either one - we are anticipating news about our next move in the next month, which will greatly determine what the rest of our summer is like. So for now, we are going to do swim lessons, Bible camps, Scout camp perhaps, and maybe a couple of day trips to some parks in the state.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
I love living out west, I really do - closer to family, the small town we are stationed in is fantastic, and I LOVE having Boise so close by (you know I'm kinda a city girl at heart). But we own a home in Goldsboro, NC where we were stationed several years ago. We have had renters in it for the last 5 years, which has worked out well - but yesterday I got a bill from our property manager asking for $580 to fill in holes from where the last tenants had hung pictures, and to patch the paint in those areas. Seriously? $580??? I think I'm in the wrong business! And right now, I'm wishing we lived just a little closer to the south east so I could get in my car, drive over there, and not only patch and paint my house myself, but give a piece of my mind to my property management company! Good grief!
Thanks for letting me vent. :-)
