And now I want coffee...

1. The best part of waking up is____________________________________.

Coffee, with really good creamer.  I've decided life is too short, and real creamer (i.e. not the low fat stuff) tastes just oh, too good... so, the good creamer it is!  Also, snuggles with my sweet Little C before the rest of the family comes downstairs.

2.  Given a choice, which animal interaction would you most like to experience (or for those non-adventurers...which would you dislike the least?)- Swim with the dolphinsat one of several locations in the Florida Keys, a lion encounter ten minutes from Victoria Falls (Africa), or a day at a remote base camp high in the Big Sur wilderness via the Ventana Wildlife Society helping track California condors?
I would LOVE to swim with the dolphins!  And the lions would be awesome too!  I would also love to do a shark tank dive and get "up close and personal - but not too personal" with sharks!

3. What is something you fear about 'old age'? What is something you look forward to?

Losing my memory, and losing my mobility are both things I fear... What do I look forward to?  Grandbabies!  Traveling with my husband!  Seeing what God has for me next!

4. Hot sauce...are you a fan? If you answered yes, what's something you make/eat that must have hot sauce? On a scale of 1-10 how hot is too hot?
I don't generally look for the hot sauce - but if I have just a plain bean and cheese burrito, yeah, I'll need something to spice it up a bit!  (Taco Lita sauce, please!  Or Trader Joes garlic salsa!)  I don't love hot hot stuff - too hot is anything over a 5.

5. It's been said that children learn what they live. What do you think children learn at your house?

I hope they learn that no matter what they ask, we will answer truthfully.  And that God is the only answer when you are facing uncertainties.

6. What's your favorite movie with a number in it's title?
Apollo 13.

7. Saturday (August 16th) is National Tell a Joke Day...share one here.
Why do planes always fly over Peter Pan's house?

Because it says "Never Never Land"

:-)

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Just over a year ago, a family member suffered from depression so debilitating that they were bed-ridden, asking their children to help them end their lives.  This family member was a strong Christian, trapped in the web of overwhelming sadness, loss of hope, and anxiety.  I have never seen anyone so tortured.  So when I heard of Robin Williams' passing yesterday, my heart broke a little... for this man, who made so many laugh, who wanted his work to matter, who always had a tinge of sadness in his eyes even in his most manic state... he was unable to find an escape from this suffering other than death.  So yes, I pray he is finally at peace.  No one knows the tortured existence of mental illness... and it is an illness, just as real as cancer or diabetes, just not as tangible.  Praise God, my family member was able to find relief through prescription medication.  But it is a battle they still endure daily.  Some days are better than others.  No one knows when or where it will rear its ugly head.  So instead of passing judgement, lets just concede that we never really know the torture that simply daily living can be for one with such an illness, and pray that they find peace.
